How to Play:
This game is very similar to "Rock, Paper, Scissors, Catch", "Giants, Wizards, & Elves", and "Witches, Goblins, & Monsters".
Designate a playing area - designate an end line for each side (when players cross this line they are safe). This game can be played in any large open space, indoors or outdoors.
- Have students get into partners and then line up at the center line, facing each other (with about a meter separating the two players).
- Listen below are the characters and actions:
Surfer Dude - one hand in front, one hand behind, pretending they are riding on a surf board
Shark - hold hands on top of head, making a shark fin
Wave - move arms up and down, pretending to be a wave
- Facing their partner, have all players jump 3 times and then each player picks a character and displays the appropriate action.
- Surfer Dude surfs on Wave (surfer dude wins), Wave crashes on Shark (wave wins) and Shark eats Surfer Dude (shark wins).
- The player that loses must turn around and run, trying to get across the end line without getting tagged.
- If the player gets tagged, the other player gets a point.
- Play for 3 or 5 rounds.
Variation:
- Spit the class into two teams - each team will huddle together and as a team will decide which character they are going to be. Teams will face off at the center line - the winning team chases and tries to tag as many players from the other team as they can. Any players that get tagged must join the other team. Play until all players are on one side.
